about

With lockdown looming, my friend Lisa decided to buy a cheap guitar and learn how to play. Not knowing when she might get home to Seattle to see her family, her first exercise was to adapt an old country song to play for her Dad on his birthday. A few weeks later, she needed something to play for Father's Day...

For all Dads, here and there; past and present.

Happy Fathers Day © R. Marris 2020

Empty airport
Planes can't fly
Quiet streets
Blank blue sky
Don't know when I'll be with you
But here is one thing that I can do

I will, find myself an old song
From across the miles and years
Make it fit our lives and sing along
And blink back happy tears

But my, finger hurts to fret a string
Need and extra brain to play and sing

But my hands they will get stronger
And my voice is clear
And a tune will last much longer, than one day of the year

Words and chords and memories
You let me drive I found a way
From a sunny childhood on a salty breeze
Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day
Happy Father's Day
